Most individuals pictured above are paternal or maternal family members. The few others are close family friends or part of the larger, supporting communities the families lived in.

Bill Meehan claimed that Matthew Henson, an African-American explorer with Robert Peary at the North Pole in 1909, was an Anderson/Freeman family cousin.
